JOB SUMMARY:
Leisureworld Caregiving Centre – Cheltenham is home to 170 residents and currently has an opening for a Permanent Part-Time Housekeeping Aide (27 Hours/Bi-Weekly).
 
As a valued member of the team, the Housekeeping Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization’s vision and mission.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES (But not limited to):
  • Ensures that all areas of the home are cleaned and sanitized as necessary according to procedure.
  • Ensures that all resident’s personal clothing and all other linens are washed and distributed daily according to procedure.
  • Working knowledge of department policy and procedure.
  • Able to maintain high sanitation standards.
  • Carry out duties in a positive manner.
  • Attend in-services sessions provided by employer.
  • Check that supplies are adequate in housekeeping and laundry before commencing daily routine.  Report shortage to Director of Support Services.
  • Check lint traps at beginning of each shift and regularly throughout the shift.
  • Collect and dispose of garbage in a sanitary manner.
  • Put stock away on delivery.
  • Buff floors according to schedule.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management.
  • Workers are required to follow safe work procedures; know and comply with all health and safety regulations and report and injury, illness, unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor immediately.  For clarity, a Worker will:
  • Work in compliance with The Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations;
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker’s Employer requires to be used or worn;
  • Report to his or her Employer or Supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker;
  • Report to his or her Supervisor any contravention of this Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows.
  • Leisureworld is a 24/7 operation, flexibility to work a variety of shifts as required operationally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • WHMIS Certificate.
  • Previous experience in Institutional Cleaning/ Laundry in a long-term care setting is desirable.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills.
EDUCATION:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge related to infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations and equipment.
