Executive Director - Lawrence

JOB SUMMARY:
Leisureworld Caregiving Centre – Lawrence is home to 224 residents and currently has an opening for a Permanent Full-Time Executive Director.  
 
The Executive Director is the senior leader of the Caregiving Centre. The Executive Director must promote a philosophy which supports the implementation and maintenance of appropriate quality of life for all residents, while respecting their identified needs and preferences. As a visionary, the Executive Director is directly responsible for the health and performance of the Caregiving Centre, the success of its operations, and strategic planning.
 
As a valued member of the team, the Executive Director demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization’s vision and mission.
  
RESPONSIBILITIES (But not limited to):
  • Direct management of all department managers; indirect management of all staff in the facility.
  • Provide financial leadership by managing budgets and monitoring long-term strategic fiscal plans; including ensuring sufficient resources/equipment are available through budget preparation, maintenance and the hiring of appropriate and adequate staffing levels.
  • Implement a comprehensive, coordinated, facility-wide program for monitoring, evaluation and improving quality of care and services, as well as an efficient system for the admission and discharge of residents through effective liaison with appropriate contacts and resources.
  • Ensure risk management activities take place to reduce and control potential or actual risks to the safety, security and health of all individuals and to the safety and security of the facility.
  • Ensure the maintenance of effective liaison and public relations with representatives from the Government, Unions and all other agencies and organizations as deemed appropriate.
  • Ensuring compliance of Ministry Acts, regulations, legislation, policies and procedures, directives, & collective agreements;
  • Ensure positive union-management relations by managing disputes & grievances and assisting in contract negotiations.
  • Managing WSIB claims and minimize negative impact to NEER statement;
  • Directs the development, implementation and co-ordination of policies and programs covering employment, orientation, training, compensation, organizational development, health and safety, benefits and performance management.
  • Ensure, in conjunction with corporate head office, that audits are completed on financial records and that appropriate reporting is completed.
  • Leisureworld is a 24/7 operation, flexibility to work a variety of shifts as required operationally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess a certificate of qualifications to be an Administrator in the Province of Ontario.
  • 3 years relevant experience in a long-term care facility, head nurse in chronic care or senior management in a health agency.
  • Considerable experience in supervising or directing registered and unregulated staff in a long term care environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long Term Care program standards and ability to ensure compliance with these standards.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal required.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Effective planning and leadership skills required for managing the nursing department in areas such as staffing, problem solving, decision making, budgets, etc.
  • Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills.
EDUCATION:
  • Post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three years in duration or a post-secondary diploma in health or social services from a program that is a minimum of two years in duration.
  • Education in management and/or 3 years relevant experience in management.
  • Successful completion or enrollment in a program in long-term care home administration or management that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time.
